A message from our teachers:
Queen’s Park Preschool wishes you jolly and happy holiday season and New Year!
A big thank you to all who kindly and generously supported QPPS in 2021. We are so grateful that we could end 2021 happily and safely. We cannot wait to have many more fun memories in 2022!
As an extension activity from November, we made and decorated cupcakes in the classroom. It was fun decorating yummy cupcakes and the children were so proud when they received their own special cupcake at snack time. Teachers were happy to see junior chefs working hard at the cupcake decorating table. Children were very excited to put on chef costumes and kept them on even while they were playing in the different activity areas. Since they were into wearing costumes, we decided to add some more costumes in the playhouse along with the aprons. It was fun to see our future firefighters and astronauts walking around the classroom. Our practicum student decided to expand the children’s curiosities and our playhouse became a popular grocery store!
In the last week of preschool, we were so lucky to have lots of snow in our yard. We worked together pushing the snowball to make a big snowman and we laughed a lot when we had a snowball fight. Teachers also decided to bring this snowy theme to the playdough table with transparent blocks, snowflakes, and Arctic animals. Children also had fun scooping and touching snow on the sensory table.
Teachers introduced a variety of instruments to the children at circle time. We sang “Jingle Bells” and “Feliz Navidad” while we played instruments. We also read “Plinka Plinka Shake Shake” by Emma Gracia and talked about different kinds of instruments and how to play them. It was fun marching around the classroom with the instruments like a marching band!
In January, we are planning to have “hot chocolate and PJ day”. 🙂 Also, teachers have seen that many of the children were into building obstacle courses lately. In the New Year, we need to start brainstorming how to extend this project and where this curiosity takes us!
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
From the teachers:)

A message from our executive team:
Hello QPPS Families and Happy New Year!
An update on our fundraisers:

A recipe to try: So Good Pizza Muffins (with veggies!)
This recipe makes a perfect savoury snack that kids (and us grown-ups too) will love. Plus, you can choose your favourite “pizza topping” ingredients to customize it. Check out So Good Pizza Muffins (with veggies!), courtesy of Amy Palanjian, Yummy Toddler Food: yummytoddlerfood.com/pizza-muffins.
A book to read: Bear and Wolf
Written and illustrated by Daniel Salmieri, this is a beautiful story about a bear and a wolf who take a walk together in the snow and become friends. It touches on themes of friendship and also the changing seasons.
Warmly,
QPPS teachers
