A message from our teachers:<\/h2>\r\n

Happy New Year! We hope everybody had a wonderful holiday. \ud83d\ude42 We are happy to see your faces again! May we be happy and healthy this year as well.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

In January, teachers introduced big foamy blocks to the children. It was a huge hit and they immediately started building many awesome structures, such as vehicles, cannons and trains, a house, and a fort. In the fort, children pretended a red circle mat was a campfire and started cooking food. It was really fun to see how excited the children were to share their creative ideas and they continued expanding on different ideas.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Our popular story of \u201cWe\u2019re Going on a Bear Hunt\u201d was back in the classroom this month with props. Children had so much fun playing the roles and telling the story by themselves. We\u2019re amazed at how well they memorized the story lines.<\/p>\r\n

We had many little nurses and doctors in the classroom this month. This fun activity started when a child pretended to fall from the train that the child built with the big foam blocks. Once children got out their doctor kits, they immediately put stethoscopes on their ears and started pretending to be doctors and nurses. It was amazing to see how they used their vocabulary and procedures to take care of the patients.<\/p>\r\n

Outside of the classroom, we all enjoyed visiting the Art Gallery this month. It is always a pleasure to see and talk about the art created by the local artists. We also took both of the 4-year-old classes for a nature walk. It was such a great experience walking through the park listening to birds singing, looking and touching the moss growing on the trees, stepping on the muddy ground, and talking about the squirrels running around the field.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

We\u2019ll continue acknowledging and celebrating the Lunar New Year in the first week of February. Our classroom looks amazing with some Lunar New Year decorations, coffee filter dragons that we dyed with watercolours, and paper lanterns that the 4-year-old kids made. We will also celebrate Family Day and Valentine\u2019s Day by thinking about the families and friends whom we love. We are planning to make a Friendship Salad to appreciate people around us in February. \ud83d\ude42\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
