Message from our Teachers

September and October 2020
3’s and 4’s Programs

Suddenly September arrived and preschool life began again. The late summer sunshine created a warm emerald green cast in our lovely outdoor space (especially under our fig tree!) We are so lucky to have such a large play yard don’t you agree?

Tentative new beginnings and comfortable returnings happened almost seamlessly. Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back! How we missed one another! Hello Jump-a-roo, hello wooden blocks, hello books!

Gradual entry was a success by all accounts. Thank you QPP families. Thank you and welcome to Queens’s Park Preschool.

Bubbles, crayons and painting outdoors at the art easel, a collective love of trucks, sand, and dinosaurs ushered us through the tentative start of the school year in comforting familiarity. Finally a chance to test our bravery, the opportunity to reach out and step into the unknown, our rock wall becoming a metaphor for limit testing. Yes our rock wall has been opened up at last!

In our classroom we have explored hand print painting, group collage, self portrait drawing and rainbow dabbing art! We have had a few dance parties, and we have created indoor and outdoor obstacle courses together!

Suddenly it is autumn and October is arriving. With fall comes the promise of curiosity and discovery. Along with curiosity and discovery, your QPP teachers have planned some extra fun days in the month of October. Mark your calendars please!

  • Crazy Hair Day is on October 8th and 9th. Send your child to preschool with bed head, braids, a slick hair style or silly clips or colour!
  • Pajama Day is October 15th and 16th! Yes you heard it! Send your child to preschool in his or her PJ’s! It will be a comfy cozy hot chocolatey day!
  • Don’t forget that QPP will be closed on October 12th and October 23rd!
  • October 20th and 21st we will have our very own pumpkin patch in our yard
  • Dress-Up day is on October 29th and 30th. On dress up day feel free to send your child to preschool in dress-up clothes or a costume.

In the past month we have had a chance to explore our water table, sensory table, light table and playdough table. We are still getting to know one another, but one thing is certain, getting to know one another has been a great deal of fun! Teachers are paying attention to your children’s interests and our classroom activities and program planning will aim to reflect those interests.

Stay tuned, more fun is on its way!

Did you know that September 30th is Orange Shirt Day. A day to reflect on the commitment that All Children Matter. Indeed, all children matter. Wearing orange is a way to support and recognize efforts of awareness of anti-racism, anti-bullying and reconciliation. Queen’s Park Preschool is committed to creating an inclusive, safe space for all. Please talk to your children about kindness, belonging and teamwork. Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity to empower children of all ages to help one another.
