Message From Our Teachers
October means Fall, weather changes, Thanksgiving and Halloween. In preschool it means leaves, muddy buddies, pumpkins, dress up, and spiders! As all the children were starting to settle in and connect with their peers and teachers, our play got bigger, better and messier this month!
Since the rain started, the water barrel outside has given us endless joy. We found some interesting bugs in our yard and we got to observe them up close in our terrarium.
We had another visit to the art gallery and we appreciated the local artists. We had our in-house pumpkin patch and finding pumpkins in our yard was so exciting. We dressed up for Halloween and had a small party to celebrate. We got to practice our earthquake-drill in all the classes on BC Shake Out day. Individual and class photos were taken this month as well.
Toasty Marshmallow, our classroom guinea pig, has been a huge favourite. All the children love feeding her veggies! Please let us know if you would like to host Toasty for a week or so during winter break.
Highlights this month included musical instruments, painting at the easel, liquid glue collages, playdough, dinosaurs, dress-up, spiders and TRAINS!
The loft space is a favourite place to find a quiet spot, an impromptu ‘picnic’ or just getting a different perspective from above!

Fundraising News
We started off slow and are now getting some fundraising going. A Neufeld farms flyer was put out along with an email. Simply follow the link to their website and place your order online. Orders need to be in by November 2nd and will be delivered to the preschool on November 9th.
After that we have Purdy’s chocolates for everyone to get stocked up for Christmas! The order information will be sent out shortly. This will close on November 12th, with delivery happening on November 25th.
We have also added Growing Smiles which is a greenhouse that offers beautiful poinsettias, wreaths and arrangements.
We are working on organizing photos with Santa as well as a silent auction for the Spring. More information on those will follow.
Craft Corner: Vegetable Stamp Fairy
Inspired by artist Eva Amisen
1. Ingredients: paper, pen, paint, vegetables left in the refrigerator.
2. Draw a fairy face and head (like a big balloon) on a piece of paper.
3. Squeeze the paint widely on an empty plate.
4. Cut the vegetables in half, or in multiple directions to give a more interesting shape.
5. Put the cut vegetables on the paint, and stamp them to complete the fairy’s hair.
Reading Room: Veggies
Experience various types of vegetables and fruit with these two books that foster fun experiences by touching, seeing and tasting.
